WHAT YOU NEED TO DO AFTER YOU HIRE AN ATTORNEY

1.                TALK TO NO ONE.  Do not talk to anyone about your case expect one of the lawyer or staff from the Law Offices of Thomas R. Edwards.  Other than the police who investigated your case, if someone tries to talk to you or get a statement from you, get his or her name and hone number and call someone at Mr. Edwards’ office.  Refuse to give any information other than the name of your attorney, Thomas Edwards.

2.                SEEK MEDICAL TREATMENT.  You must return to each of your doctors as often as necessary to document and heal completely from your injuries.  If you do not seek treatment for your injuries, there will be no proof of your injuries.  Make sure the doctor knows your complaints are related to your accident.  If you see other doctors, give us their names and addresses immediately.

3.                LOST WAGES. Keep an accurate records of all days lost from work because of your injuries.  If the doctor has you off work, get and “off-work” slip from the doctor immediately.

4.                MEDICAL BILLS.  Keep duplicate copies of all medical, hospital, and drug bills.  Send these to your attorney’s office periodically to update your file.  If you have health insurance do not be afraid to use it to cover your treatment.

5.                WITNESSESS.  Give your attorney a list of the correct names, addresses and telephone numbers of any and all witnesses.

6.                SAVE YOUR CAST. If your injury requires a cast, brace, traction or other medical appliance, save it and let your attorney know, so that we can note it to your file.

7.                PHOTOGRAPHS.  Take and send us any photographs which might apply to your case.  These include before and after pictures of your car (if you have an auto case), injuries, scars, bruises, stitches, accident scene, etc.  We will also need a picture of you before your injury.

8.                DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING. Nothing concerning your case should be signed without first calling your attorney.

9.                STAY IN TOUCH.  Any change in doctors, treatment, return-to-work, etc., should be reported to your attorney immediately.  Call us at once with any change of address, telephone number, place of employment, etc.  Call and let us know if you are going on vacation or will be unavailable for an extended period of time.  We must always have an alternative way to contact you.

10.           RELAX.  Let us do the work for you.
